Class Announcements WELCOME!!! My name is Ms. Hall and I teach 2nd grade at Fannie W. Fitzgerald. I am so excited for this year! I wanted to start out by telling you my teaching philosophy.
I believe children learn best by experience and hands on activities. The teacher should cater to all learning styles so that no students are left out. Each child is unique and I will respect his or her social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs. Every child should be provided with developmentally appropriate programs that focus on the process of learning and help children succeed in their learning environment. Children need to develop their skills in the core subjects such as reading, writing, history and science. In addition, students need to be provided classes, which involve physical education, fine arts, and computer technology. I believe in positive methods of discipline, and each child should establish a sense of independence and responsibility in my classroom. Consistency in disciplining each student is of great importance, along with teaching the children to respect others who may be different from them.
The students should be presented with a caring, positive, and safe environment to facilitate teaching and learning. Parents are an important part of a child’s education and they should have the opportunity to be involved with their child’s education. I hope to provide a good relationship between the parents and myself and update the parents on their child’s progress often. The school environment should motivate and support excellence in learning with the students, teachers, faculty and parents all working together. I strongly believe it is not where the child comes from, but where you believe you can take them.
When you strive and work to become a good teacher and to create a good class, these four qualities are essential: knowledge, the skills to convey that knowledge, the ability to make the material you are teaching interesting and relevant, and a deep-seated respect for the student. Without these four qualities, good teaching will not exist. I believe a teacher should be a positive role model to the class and guide and coach the students through learning. Discussion Topics |
